This position is located in the NDW Regional Finance Office located at NAS Patuxent River, MD. The purpose of this position is to maintain accounting and budget records and perform a full range of accounting duties using double entry accrual accounting methods.

Qualifications

Must have three years of progressively responsible experience that demonstrates possession of accepted accounting principles and practices; ability to develop practical knowledge of the Navy; practical knowledge of automated accounting systems; knowledge of procedures necessary to verify and edit accounting data and input documents necessary to process items correctly in an accounting system. Knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures and techniques used in maintaining, balancing and closing accounts in an accounting system with extensive subdivision of accounts. Knowledge of the double entry accrual accounting system and the mechanized fiscal account code structure to maintain an accurate accounting system. Knowledge of Navy policies, practices and regulations and the regulatory provisions applied to the budgetary process. Knowledge of the interrelationship between appropriations and the various control accounts and subsidiary accounts maintained. Ability to analyze numerous accounts and determine the need for, and the type of adjustments necessary to reconcile and balance accounts. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports. Ability to operate computerized accounting systems. Knowledge of Non-Appropriated Fund regulations to include the JTR, procedures and policies is a plus. Possess effective communication skills, both orally and written to peers and all levels of management. Ability to plan, organize and execute assigned projects.
