This position will be assigned to The Soundside Club and is not guaranteed a set number of hours but can be scheduled 0 - 40 hours per week. As a federal employee you will have access to all Hurlburt Field FSS facilities. After 1 year of employment, you will be eligible for the following benefits: - 12 weeks Paid Parental Leave - Tuition Assistance This is a Crafts and Trades position. Regular step increases with satisfactory work performance.

Duties

As directed, secures linen, glassware and silverware, depending on the particular format (menu, food and beverages). Readies groups of tables for food and beverages, making sure that dishes, glasses and silverware meet cleanliness standards, and that linens are spotless and condiment containers are filled. Following specific instructions and rigid time schedules, secures food from kitchen, and carries beverages from bar and serves customers. Refills food and beverage containers and performs emergency cleanup services. Answers simple questions concerning menu items and food served. Cleans and prepares tables for further use. Performs other related cleaning duties as time permits including the preparation area, kitchen and dining room. May perform incidental dishwashing and other tasks. Asks patrons what beverages are desired, and describes or suggests cocktails, highballs, wines or other beverages on request. Gives orders to bartender. Adds fruit or decorations as required. Receives and places beverages on a small tray and serves patrons. Observes when patrons leave and cleans table. Returns used glassware to bar. Maintains clean work area. Collects payment from patrons when drinks are served. May dispense bottled beverages, confections and tobacco or serve any other item on request of the patron. Requirements

  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Tier 1 background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has a physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers Certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to the position.
  • Must meet state and legal age requirement for sale of alcoholic beverages. Florida requires applicants to be 18 years of age at the close of this announcement.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: No previous experience or training is required; however previous wait staff/banquet experience is highly desirable. Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, prepare checks for patrons, make simple mathematical computations, and be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must be physically able to stand, stoop, bend and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical examination. Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to communicate with customers and possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
