The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a logistics management specialist in support of all Logistics Life Cycle phases of assigned systems, programs, or major equipment authorized in Air Force Medical Allowance Standards for expeditionary operations.

Duties

Integrate Logistics Support (ILS) responsibilities. Participates in developing segments of the ILS plan involving all phases of AF Medical Services (AFMS) Centrally Managed Equipment (CME) life cycle management, e.g., from conception, design, and development through production and development to final disposition for assigned items and/or services. Assists project/program managers with development of criteria. Participates in the development of segments of plans to acquire, receive, store, transfer, issue, maintain and dispose of equipment for AFMS equipment Unit Type Codes (UTCs), and to provide training needed to sustain fielding's. Conducts research to complete assignments. Uses a thorough knowledge of supply regulation., and policies to perform continuing assignments encompassing a variety of problem situations with considerable independence. Participates in systems analyses of programs and problems associated with supply systems. Analyzes specific facts of problems reported by database users. Prepares recurring and special reports. Uses a thorough knowledge of supply regulations and policies to perform continuing assignments preparing recuring and special reports and compiling statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations. policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operation for urgent, critical and shortage items. Knowledge of the theories and principles of Logistics Management and of integrated logistics systems (ILS) planning and execution. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution of ILS program execution issues and problems of a procedural or factual nature. Knowledge of regulations and practices pertaining to ILS program execution. Knowledge of the regulations theories and principles on Logistics Management pertaining to weapons systems management and sustainment. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution of ILS planning issues, weapons systems management and sustainment issues and problems of a procedural or factual nature. Knowledge of a wide range of well-established and commonly applied supply principles, concepts, and methodologies in one of the technical supply specializations (inventory, packaging, storing/distributing, or cataloging) or of supply program operations, when such work requires the application of some judgment and analysis to recurring kinds of assignments of providing services and resolving issues and problems of a procedural nature in supply operations, planning, or program management. Knowledge and skill in using automated supply databases for supply management determinations. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to logistical support. Knowledge of theories and principles of logistics management and of lLS planning and execution. Knowledge of system life cycle concepts and design as they apply to system research, development, and acquisition. Knowledge of contractual processes, procedures, and technical requirements. Ability to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies and equipment. Ability to conduct extensive and exhaustive searches for information pertaining to complex supply transactions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
