About the Position: Serves as a Storage Specialist. Plans, receipts and storage of all types of ammunition and explosives, including TNT, chemical ammunition, guided missile and special weapons ammunition. Provides information for maintenance of current overall a storage plans and develops suggestions for improved material handling equipment to solve particular handling problems.
Duties
Plan, receipt and storage of all types of ammunition and explosives, including TNT, chemical ammunition, guided missile and special weapons ammunition.
Recommend changes in operational polices and procedures to improve efficiency and utilization of facilities to determine space used and allocation.
Plan and analyze space location and obligation for all types of ammunition.
Make special studies of re-warehousing problems to maintain maximum storage space.
Prepare all standard operating procedures (SOP) and assumes the responsibility for the accuracy of SOPs for receiving, storage and shipment.
Prepare report of total cost of re-warehousing activities, tonnage handled, man-hours, equipment and material costs.
Maintain surveillance of all activities, determining reasons for deviations from standards as to cost, tonnage handled, etc., and makes recommendations as to corrective actions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May be required, if qualified, to participate in Chemical accident/Incident Response and Assistant (CAIRA) situations and serve on teams dedicated to controlling CAIRA situations after being trained for particular duty involved.

Specialized ExperienceGS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning storage operations allocation and utilization of space, materials, supply and equipment at the installation level; 2) Utilizing logistic and material automation systems; 3) Following processes to maintain material accountability; 4) Preparing reports for costs of materials, storage and makes recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Systems.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
