About the Position: This position is located at the Tooele Army Depot, Directorate of Base Operations, Facilities Support Division, Serves as an Electrician performing duties such as: engineering, installing, modifying, repairing and troubleshooting electrical and electronic equipment and components.
Duties
Conduct tests and studies related to new or changed features in electrical systems or equipment
Load and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment (including motors, lighting, heating, and emergency power systems).
Install, trouble-shoot, repair, maintain, rebuild, modify, and make performance tests on a variety of electrical equipment and controls such as; Lightning Protection Systems, Transient voltage surge suppressors and non-interruptible power systems.
Diagnose, test and align various electronic assemblies, subassemblies and overall function of systems.
Inspect, clean, repair and maintain lighting, heating, emergency power control, and wiring systems; and check for proper operation of electrical equipment.
Install various electrical devices to include: switches, outlets, controls, panels, lighting fixtures, motors, conduit systems, transformers, instrumentation devices, feeder and branch circuits.
Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) generators from 3 to 500 kW consisting of circuits and equipment in critical areas
Operate and repair electrical power sources, distribution equipment, and HELOPAD lighting systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee will handle hazardous waste and must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six (6) months after appointment to this position.

- Employee is required to have his/her name on a call out list and be called back to work during non-duty hours (including weekends, holidays, and scheduled days off,) to support emergency situations or make emergency repairs.
- Employee is required to work in a chemical limited area. Within six (6) months after the date of appointment to this position the employee must meet and maintain all requirements for the Unescorted Access Program.

I have the ability to perform common Electrician duties: I can design, plan, layout, install and/or repair electrical systems/equipment and components. Troubleshoot, install, maintain and/or repair malfunctions in electronic systems. Interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of electronic systems. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Uses arms, head, and legs during work process. Moderate to heavy physical exertion is required. Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and where parts being repaired are in hard-to-reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighting up to 45 pounds and occasionally an item weighting greater than 45 pounds. Assistance is usually available for lifting heavier items. Uses coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body in installing, repairing, or testing electrical, electronic or refrigeration/air-conditioning equipment in confined spaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside during performance of duties. Subject to extreme heat, cold and inclement weather conditions. Subject to falls from poles, booms, ladders, and scaffolding; strains from working in awkward position; and less serious cuts and bruises when handling tools and materials. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and/or stooping is required. Occasional climbing and working in high places is required.
There is exposure to dirt, grease, noise, odor, smoke, fumes, occasionally asbestos, carcinogens, chemicals, radiation, etc. Frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns and electrical shock. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job.
