About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US Army Garrison Directorate of Plans, Trgn, Mob & Security, Security & Intelligence Division, Fort Carson, CO. Serves as a Security Specialist within the Installation Management Command (IMCOM).

Duties

Responsible for the development, planning, oversight, administration, management, implementation, and enforcement within the installation of one or more of the DCIPS intelligence-related security disciplines assigned to IMCOM. Serves as a Security Specialist for one or more security programs (e.g. Industrial Security, Information Security, Personnel Security or their associated training requirements) defined by the AR 380-series regulations. Establishes and maintains an effective and efficient security program that supports the garrison mission. Provides definitive technical advice and assistance to the Garrison Commander regarding the establishment of a comprehensive security program that does not unduly hamper the command?s operations. Administers policies, practices and metrics which reflect the security posture of the garrison. Conducts analyses to identify program issues and develops/implements remedial actions. Advises the supervisor of recommended policy or procedural changes.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be able to obtain and then continue to maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Special Background Investigation for the duties required.
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required for approximately 15% of the time.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) certification within their first two years of employment.
