The Montana VA Health Care System, Mental Health Service is currently recruiting for one (2) Behavioral Health Outpatient Team Supervisory Social Workers, at the Travis W. Atkins VA Outpatient Clinic, in Bozeman, Montana, and the Kalispell VA Clinic in Kalispell, Montana.
Duties
The Behavioral Health (BH) Outpatient Team Supervisor is responsible for the administrative management of assigned multidisciplinary Teams within the Department's outpatient mental health and substance use disorders units. Supervisory duties cover a multidisciplinary group of employees including social workers, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, addiction therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and clerical staff.
Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Monitors staff productivity, maps staff clinical and administrative duties, establishes performance expectations, evaluates performance outcomes, and audits clinical documentation.
Maintains clinical case load (0.5 FTEE), providing psychotherapy services in an individual, group, and/or family counseling format.
Provides services to Veterans and the interdisciplinary team regarding evaluation, identification, and treatment of psycho-social concerns and psychiatric diagnoses.
Ensures staff compliance with accreditation standards, VA directives and handbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and standards developed specific to the department.
Works closely with the Discipline Leads for Psychology, Psychiatry, and Nursing regarding professional practice issues, and consults with the Chief of Social Work as needed.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship.
English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. ? 7403(f).
Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work.
Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found by going to http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/.
Grade Determinations:
Supervisory Social Worker, GS-12
Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.
Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services.
Ability to provide staff training and development.
Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers.

Physical Requirements: Physical demands of the position are generally minor and sedentary in nature. Physical activity involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and carrying light items such as papers, books or other supplies. The incumbent uses a computer and standard office equipment to complete tasks. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.
