This position serves as a Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector and will manage a Flight Standards field office, (Flight Standards District Office, Certificate Management Office, or International Field Office). The position reports to the applicable Division Manager and will execute the Agency's aviation safety mission, while accepting responsibility for being active in communicating and building change coalitions.

Duties

The manager is responsible for aviation safety activities in a complex and dynamic air carrier and/or general aviation environment that includes experience in one or more of the following specialties: Operations, Avionics, Maintenance, and Cabin Safety. Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed and ensures the promotion of the highest level of safety compliance with regulatory standards while utilizing transparency of data exchange that includes the identification of hazards and management of risk.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Some, none or all will be interviewed.

Qualifications

Aviation Safety Inspector positions have job-related medical requirements. When applicable, applicants must meet job-related medical requirements which will be assessed and validated during the pre-employment process.Medical Requirements: Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
