The primary purpose of the Psychology Technician is to provide nonprofessional technical work such as administering neuropsychological assessments, collecting data, score tests, and assist in management of databases.
Duties
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Administering of structured interviews with a variety of patient populations, including those with neurologic and/or psychological disorders.
Recording of detailed behavioral observations, and the writing of patient progress notes and diagnostic reports.
Providing neuropsychological testing services in collaboration with neuropsychologists for a host of patient care providers, including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Consult Liaison Services.
Receiving consults, reviewing charts, contacting Veterans for scheduling. Psychology technicians may also offer services as part of an inter-professional collaborative care team (e.g. embedded within primary care).
Providing training for a variety of neuropsychology trainees including interns, pre-doctoral graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows, on the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the diagnostic instruments employed by the Assessment Unit.
Participating in policy making, goal setting and treatment service planning discussion.
Organizing testing materials, compiling, organizing, and/or developing training materials.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/19/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although the stress involved in continually working with persons in emotional and physical distress and who may be uncooperative, poorly motivated, obstreperous, or possibly assaultive, makes this position appreciably more demanding than most sedentary lines of employment. Preferred Experience: Administering/scoring of neuropsychological and psychological assessment instruments.
Experience with EMR/CPRS documentation and consult management.
Experience with components of neuropsychological reporting (behavioral observations, test result summarizations)You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Administering psychological assessment, working with individuals with diverse background, scoring assessments, and interviewing patients.
OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one full year of graduate study in psychology in an accredited college or university may be substituted for 1 year of experience and meets in full the requirements at the GS-7 level.
OR
Combination: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above that meets the total qualification requirements for this position.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Must be able to deal effectively with a variety of people, be tactful, and must have demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
