The Training Technician will develop and implement educational programs for VA Loma Linda staff to include MSA Academy for new Health Administration Service (HAS) employees, MSA and Non-MSA Refresher Courses, Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT)/Mental Health (BHOST/BHIP) clinic scheduling, CPRS, VistA, VSE-GUI classes and customer service practices.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Develops and implements training modules for new and existing employees for inpatient/outpatient, CBOC MSAs, and other medical center staff (clerical, administrative, and clinical) in the sections.
Performs collaborative work in the development and/or evaluation of courses for training programs, help with the implementation of changes based upon Training and Clinic Management Section Chiefs and Training Specialist's evaluations of courses/programs.
Provides instruction covering a wide variety of topics in well-established areas of a subject matter field, which includes training healthcare providers and HAS staff.
Identifies and determines training priorities, conducts and administers training programs, and develops and improves training guidance as it relates to VistA, CPRS, and other computer applications.
Uses knowledge about the competency-based orientation and validation program to enhance orientation and other educational programming to ensure the competencies for Medical Center employees.
Trains and orients users (clerical, administrative, and clinical) in selected program and applications (VISTA, CPRS, and TMS).
Uses a wide range of teaching methods or tools, depending on the students learning requirements.
Initiates educational programming which is responsive to changes in the policy/procedure/technology, and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Organizes course material and/or modifications for staff who may pose typical problems of communication or remediation.
Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model [ex. Primary Care (PAGT/BHOST/BHIP)] and perform MSA duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients.
Maintains appointment schedules.
Assists with clinic access contingency plans by adjusting appointment times, location, or dates as well as shift patient to other healthcare providers as conflict with staffing and/or coverage occurs.
Protects printed/electronic files containing sensitive data under provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974, and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy.
Performs other directly related duties as assigned by Call Center Supervisor, ACC Supervisors, Inpatient Supervisors, Clinic Administrators and/or Training and Clinic Management Section Chief.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/29/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
