About the Position: The TMDE Support Center-Ft. Eustis is a small Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Support Center team. We provide calibration and/or repair of TMDE for 9000+ Owning Work Centers. We have flexible or adjusted work schedules available. Parking is available on site. Fort Eustis, Virginia is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach.

Duties

Prepares test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections, and uncertainties, over a specified range of circumstances for instruments being calibrated. Assists and advises users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements for test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) in support of their mission. Implements, adapts, modifies, and periodically develops technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements. Prepares reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision-making process for the development of documents used for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) certification. Performs repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications. Interfaces with user and manufacturer of test equipment as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard TMDE.

  • MODERATE TO HEAVY LIFTING - This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade PracticesTroubleshooting Physical Efforts - The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. Working Conditions - The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
