About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator (MVO) at the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security Division (DPTMS) in Fort Sill, OK.

Duties

Ensure compliance in accordance with established safety procedures and regulations when operating equipment and motor vehicles. Perform operator level maintenance and repair on heavy duty mobile equipment and vehicles. Inspect equipment to ensure that vehicles and equipment are properly serviced. Maintain awareness regarding operational specifications, such as lifting capacities, for all utilized equipment. Operate engineering equipment such as front end loader, bulldozer, crane, spreader, road roller, and road grader to move, load, or manipulate materials and terrain.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must possess a commercial driving license and the required endorsements to operate equipment assigned to unit.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA form 5019-R, and/or DA form 7412 "Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program," or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program.
  • A physical examination is required for this position.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Recruitment/Relocation/Retention incentives may be authorized.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Expenses may be authorized.
  • Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator (MVO) without more than normal supervision. Ability to operate trucks or mobile cranes with gross weight of 15 tons (such as dump truck or tractors with mowing attachments) to move dirt or debris. Ability to operate light to heavy equipment (such as tractor, backhoe, bulldozer, road grader, or crane) to excavate, trench, or grade surfaces on flat or rolling terrain. Ability to identify issues with respect to operational equipment and conditions. Ability to perform operational maintenance and repair on heavy duty mobile equipment and vehicles to include removing and replacing new or rebuilt assemblies, removing, and cleaning fuel tanks. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Ability to perform Motor Vehicle Operator duties w/o more than normal supervisionOperation of Motor VehiclesReliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment OperatorWork Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT Heavy physical effort is used by the operators in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operators are frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Lifts and handles heavy equipment attachments. ???????WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to risk of injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. The Operator is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust.
