About the Position: Responsible for providing comprehensive occupational health services to all eligible beneficiaries in the area of responsibility (AOR) of the MTF. The population encompasses a complex and variable myriad of industrial processes and hazardous exposures, requiring a multifaceted, comprehensive occupational health program. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Evaluate patients for referral to nurse or physician. Perform various screenings, such as vision, vital signs, spirometry, audiometry, and electrocardiograms. Facilitate the safe and effective operation of medical equipment and contributes to a safe working environment. Provide administrative support such as patient scheduling and coordination of pre-placement and routine physical exams. Maintain medical records in accordance with applicable directives.

Requirements

  • Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Required to obtain, possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Required to possess a valid driver?s license.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • Required to receive and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza. The incumbent must, as a condition of employment, be immunized on an annual basis against influenza.
  • Required to have successfully completed a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved course in Spirometry and received a certificate of completion within 6 months.
  • Required to have successfully completed audiometry by a Council of Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and received a certificate of completion within 6 months.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. For the GS-05, Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includesperforming support duties under close supervision of a health care personnel in any of the following: providing costumer service; maintaining files and using an automated system to schedule/reschedule appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. For the GS-06, Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes;performing support duties under close supervision of a health care personnel in any of the following: providing costumer service; maintaining files and using an automated system to schedule/reschedule appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as such asa Healthcare Technician or Medical Technician program, and other related health science fields. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. For the GS-07, Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; performing various screening, such as vision, vital signs, spirometry, audiometry, and/or electrocardiograms (EKGs); reviewing test results for completeness and accuracy; operating specialized medical equipment and/or perform screening tests such as; electrocardiograms, spirometry, audiograms, and vision screens. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such asa Healthcare Technician or Medical Technician program, and other related health science fields. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Certification Requirements: At the GS-05 grade-level, Spirometry and Audiology certification MUST be obtained within a year of employment. At the GS-06 and GS-07 grade-level applicants MUST possess the certifications of Spirometry and Audiology.
