Medical Records Technician Position is located in the Health Center Medical Records Department, Cibecue, AZ. Incumbent provides Specialized assistance in the processing and maintaining medical records in the form of Electronic Health Record(EHR) hybird enviorment, for compliance with regulatory requirements. included in these duties are reviewing, analyzing, abstracting, compiling data, key-entering, maintaining, and scanning patient health information.
Duties
Specialty duties: electronically analyzes and audits protected health information in the electronic health records system on ambulatory patient records by performing the following.
Performs comprehensive analysis by reviewing and validating on-line the ambulatory health records, to assure the presence of all component part of patient information elements are present to meet the requirements of accreditation agencies such as Joint Commission, CMS,IHS Regulations and Standards that governs the HIM Department policies. Medical Records maintenance is accomplished by use of an automated record system.
Performs quality checks on communicates with the appropriate provider the document deficiencies identified via EHR notification or manual deficiency sheet.
Dispatch patient's charts to various clinics for services, and retrieves the returning charts to HIM Department.
Ensures routine telephone calls, visitors, and questions for information relating to services, directions ,instructions and coordination of activities are answered correctly and in a positively timely manner.
Requires maintaining a high level of confidentiality of health information at all times in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA of 1996, CMS/JCAHO, IHS, Hospital manuals, guidelines, and other federal regulatory guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector) performing the following type of work and/or tasks:, 1)Responsible for maintaining and processing the Patient Merge System ensuring the possible duplicates are continuously reviewed, run, and cleaned for continuity of patient care.2) Communicates effectively with co-workers, peers, and providers to ensure the patient health information documents are complete, accurate, and relevant according to regulatory policies and procedures.3)Performs quality checks on communicates with the appropriate provider the document deficiencies identified via EHR notification or manual deficiency sheet.
Successful completion of education, four years above high school, this education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school, OR
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
