Duties

Instruct students through assigned unit of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels. Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials for basic aircraft pneudralics curriculum. Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance. Inputs necessary data into the Field Training Management System (FTMS). Maintains professional and technical expertise.

  • Required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor
  • Required to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712 series, to include IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: **This is a CCAF Position** For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes practical knowledge of a wide range of conventional concepts, principles, and practices associated with basic aircraft maintenance training program sufficient to independently conduct, and evaluate difficult, but well-precedented formal/ informal basic aircraft maintenance training consisting of basic aircraft maintenance procedures of pneudraulic systems, line replaceable units, aircraft system theory, system test equipment, support equipment, wiring maintenance, common tool usage, basic troubleshooting procedures, safety, security, Air Force technical orders, and management/maintenance directives in order to implement assigned appropriate training to target personnel. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources, as well as the principles, techniques, and objectives of test and measurement. 2. Extensive practical knowledge of basic aircraft pneudralics systems maintenance associated with line replaceable units, aircraft maintenance procedures, aircraft system theory, common test equipment, aerospace ground equipment, wiring maintenance, common toll usage, Air Force technical orders, safety, security, management and maintenance directives. 3. Knowledge of computer applications. 4. Skill in developing course materials and presenting formal and informal courses and briefings. 5. Ability to communicated effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
