This position is located in the Environmental Management Service and must have certification from the state of Louisiana in the performance of pest control and be able to perform under an experienced Pest Controller. This position reports to the Chief, Environmental Management Service, and will be working under the instruction of the Pest Controller.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Plans work to be completed as well as inspection and treatment schedules.
Completes required reports and records operations including chemical used and areas treated.
Conducts Environment of Care Rounds to check for signs of pest or things which may attract pests.
Identifies pests, locates the source, and determines the appropriate control method.
Removes and cleans areas where dead pests, rodents, and animal fowl have been identified, such as attics, basements, light diffusers, etc.
Coordinating pest control needs with various facility employees.
Utilizes various public and private sector agency publications and directives to ensure the overall program is within guidelines for safety, chemical application, and control methods.
Selects and maintains pesticide PAR levels and equipment used in operations.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Light lifting and carrying (under 15 lbs); straight pulling; pulling hand over hand; pushing; reaching above shoulder; walking (3 hrs); standing (4 hrs); kneeling (1/2 hr); repeated bending; climbing (use of legs and arms); both legs required; operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle; ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (aid permitted).
Work in cramped and inconvenient surroundings requiring manipulation of equipment in awkward positions for prolonged periods. Work frequently requires working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
