The work involves fabricating, overhauling, modifying, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment. The work requires knowledge of electronic principles; the ability to recognize improper operation, locate the cause, and determine the best method to correct the defect; and the skill to disassemble, assemble, and adjust electronic equipment.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot and repair complex electronic equipment & complete operational systems consisting of components which require extensive knowledge, such as fire alarm systems, nurse call, Code Blue, security systems and cameras. Modify systems by adding, altering or removing components in order to standardize or alter the purpose of the equipment or to incorporate new features. Use electronic test equipment and familiar with their capabilities and limitations. Interpret complex drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, manufacturers technical manuals, specifications and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function/interconnections. Troubleshoot complex electronics using knowledge of interrelated circuits such as timing circuits, pulse forming networks, etc. to determine cause of malfunction. Construct infection control barriers and use Hepacart when performing work in patient wards, ICU, Emergency Department and Community Living Center. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The employee frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components. The employee typically works in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Work is sometimes in high or restricted places, under conditions of heat and cold and outside in inclement weather. The employee is exposed to the possibility of electric shock, burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises.
