You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAS MERIDIAN SEC DET~.

Duties

You will check credentials of personnel or vehicles to control access to base posts, buildings, private property, or restricted areas. You will maintain security equipment to confirm proper working order and functionality. You will access a personal identification system to issue vehicle passes and identification badges. You will interview persons to obtain or verify information related to suspicious persons or activity.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• Must successfully pass (no felony convictions) an initial criminal background check and annual review.
• Required to wear an uniform and comply with grooming standards. The incumbent will be required to wear protective clothing such as a ballistic vest, helmet, etc.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.
