This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Criminal Investigator within the Investigations and Operations Directorate responsible for directing an operation involving numerous multidisciplinary professional special agents, intelligence analysts and support staff.

Duties

Provides advice, guidance, and regulatory interpretation of laws, orders, rules and regulations pertaining to CID criminal investigations. Determines best actions for resolving resource shortfalls in meeting goals Prepares, makes and defends revisions of priorities, staffing, resources and operating procedures to meet shifts in workload or to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Develops, coordinates and issues policies, procedures and instructions regarding investigative operations. Oversees strategic planning initiatives, directorate budget, and criminalistics issues. Supervises a staff of military and civilian personnel through subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • 25% TDY travel required.
  • Drug testing is required.
  • Must possess a driver?s license.
  • Required to sign a Lautenberg Agreement certifying that they have never been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
  • Must complete an OGE-450 Financial Disclosure Form
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Must qualify with and carry a firearm.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Independently planning, developing, and coordinating criminal investigations, planning and directing investigative support operations and providing investigative guidance to subordinate criminal investigators. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Criminal InvestigationLeadershipPlanning and Evaluating PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Performance of above duties requires moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that the incumbent may perform the duties satisfactorily. Incumbent must possess sufficiently good vision, with or without glasses, in each eye, in order that they may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, glasses permitted, must be acute for reading of printed materials the size of typewritten characters. The ability of incumbent to hear conversational voices and whispered speech is required. Any hearing impairment may be compensated for by use of a hearing aid. Since the duties of the position are exacting, responsible, and involve work performed under arduous and dangerous conditions, you must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition, which would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others, will disqualify him/her.
