Duties
Works directly with the Lead Special Trial Counsel (LSTC) to ensure connection between functional area strategic messages and goals.
Develop internal communication processes and products for Office of Special Trial Counsel (OSTC) and its field offices.
Assists in handling controversial, national-level issues impacting the organization and Office of Special Trial Counsel (OSTC).
Develop and implement aspects of the strategic communication, Congressional engagement, public involvement, media relations, command information and community relations programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One-year trial/probationary period may be required.
- You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS14: One year of specialized experience which includes analyze the effectiveness of social media communication plans; apply principles for using appropriate methods in conducting a social media affairs program such as: public information, internal information, and community relations activities for internal and external audiences; and develop communication plans that integrate all types of media for appropriate cost effective means to attain communication.
Specialized Experience GS15: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service which includes ability to advise the organization's public affairs specialists on integrating Public Affairs practices and procedures; analyze the effectiveness of social media communication plans; and develop new approaches in planning for the overall functional program for public affairs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management. Duties described reflect the full performance GS-15 level. If not selected at the full performance, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision.
