About the Position: This position serves as a Director of the General Patton Museum of Leadership. The incumbent serves as a Senior Curator for the Patton Museum. Plans, designs and/or develops permanent, temporary and traveling museum exhibits. Determines exhibit policy, and is responsible for the development of overall exhibit designs. Supervises the staff of the Patton Museum. Prepares operating budget and coordinates the expenditure of appropriate funds.

Duties

Prepare plans, budgets, operating procedures, and policies guiding museum operations. Advise on expenditures directed at museum projects and activities. Supervise museum staff, museum docents, and volunteers. Perform research for the purpose of authenticating artifacts and support exhibition history. Studies objects to determine their relationships, implications, and their significance within the general field of Military Leadership. Ensure that exhibit storyline is historically accurate. Responsible for the proper storage and conservation procedures of artifacts. Design and assist the publication of booklets and brochures directly related to the museum and Fort Knox. Conduct museum briefing for military personnel on the history of General Patton and Leadership skills. Act as liaison between the Commanding General, TRADOC, and local community leaders.

  • This position requires a one-year supervisory probation, unless previously completed.
  • This position requires lifting of at least 50 pounds overhead.

OR Experience: Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four year course of study as shown in A above. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, implementing and administering a collection program; adopting proper cataloguing techniques of artifacts; handling historic material; artifact exhibit creation experience; research proficient; assist in managing museum programs and administrative actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer ServiceDecision MakingHistory and Archaeology Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
