You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PRODUCTION ENGINEERING & FACILITIES DIVISION, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be responsible for the development and improvement of industrial facilities, equipment, tools, and determination of requirements and specifications for plant equipment, material, and machine tools.
You will plan and accomplish complete Industrial Engineering projects or studies of a complex nature.
You will advise the Superintendent and upper management concerning a range of technical issues such as processes, methods, machinery, material, and the efficient utilization of shop/shipyard resources.
You will provide guidance for making changes in shop and office facilities as a result of expansions, realignments, or reorganizations.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying engineering principles and theories related to industrial engineering equipment and systems;
Experience planning and accomplishing conventional assignments requiring some adaptation and interpretation of standard practices, criteria, regulations, and procedures;
Experience working with equipment, structures, and systems of other engineering disciplines applicable to industrial facilities and equipment;
Experience researching and applying methods, techniques, requirements, and developments for industrial equipment and systems.
