About the Position: Candidate will work in fast-paced Group Commander's office. Candidate responsible for high-speed multi-tasking - phones, emails, etc. Duty hours are 0730 - 1630, Monday - Friday.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Duties
Compose correspondence, endorsements and letters utilizing word processing software applications.
Use knowledge of department policies and procedures in order to provide support to the staff.
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, in order to ascertain the nature of the calls or visits.
Locate appropriate reference material and procedures in order to answer request from staff and visitors.
Maintain subject matter files required for management of the department for reference.
Gathers information from files and documents for supervisor's use in responding to inquiries.
Proofread correspondence for grammar, spelling, punctuation and required format before signature or dissemination.
Use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or similar processing software to prepare correspondence, memorandums and other types of documents to support assigned program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background check.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing a variety of clerical and administrative work such as composing routine correspondence, maintaining calendars, and/or scheduling meetings/conferences higher level leadership; transcribe meeting minutes from leadership meeting; utilizing a variety of automated office automation software or healthcare databases to prepare variety of correspondence, maintain calendars, enter or retrieve data, or create reports.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
