Duties

Operate a personal computer to input, store, retrieve, and manipulate data. Perform a variety of standard and non-standard clerical duties to coordinate travel arrangements, services, and medical appointments for patients and their Family members from distant areas of the geographical region. Answer non-technical questions concerning appointment providing standardized preparatory instructions for routine procedure for referring to appropriate staff, as required. Perform a variety of technical and organizational support duties, mainly in the area of work measurement, forecasting, capacity planning, and scheduling. Assist members from the time of receipt of notification pending Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) through various stages of processing until completion of the Clinical Evaluation Process and forwarding to the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must successfully complete the 6I-F4/340-F3 training and certification course within 180 days of their appointment and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required

Specialized Experience: Inservice Placement one year of specialized experience at the second lower level or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (Inservice Placement) which includes conducting a telephone or in-person interview with the service member for information; responding to telephone inquiries from unit administrators/service members; gathering data and assembles material for processing of Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) cases and TDRL periodic re-evaluations; providing complete factual data for use by physician/Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Office (PEBLO) in developing and processing cases; initiating, extracting recording and maintaining administrative case files. Typing requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
