About the Position: Serves as the 599th Transportation Surface Brigade Security Manager under the direction of the Commander. The 599th is a subcommand of the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). It consists of a Brigade-level headquarters, three subordinate transportation battalions and three detachments conducting port operations. This position is the principal staff advisor and final authority on security matters for the Transportation Brigade.

Duties

Responsible for the direction and/or planning, formulation, development, coordination and implementation of the Brigade?s security program. Formulate unit SOP's and supplement applicable security regulations for the Transportation Brigade. Develop appropriate protective measures relative to specific situations, functions, or requirements. Coordinate, interpret, and review directives issued by higher authority and insure uniformity in policies and responses to these changes. Administer the Brigade?s Personnel Security (PERSEC) Program in accordance with current laws, regulations and policies. Review position requirements and assist the Commander in designating position sensitivity levels and determining security clearance investigations and clearance requirements. Send outgoing security clearance certifications. Administer the Information Security (INFOSEC) Program for the Brigade. Develop and manage procedures for document control, classified storage, classification, downgrading, de-classification, volume control of documents, marking, identification, destruction, and reproduction. Responsible for the Physical Security Program for the Brigade and provide oversight, coordination and guidance to Battalions on their physical security requirements and compliance. Responsible for the Industrial Security Program for the Brigade. Responsible as the Brigade?s Foreign Disclosure Representative.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel up to 20% to perform duties.
  • Incumbent may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent will be required to Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Incumbent must complete the DOD Security Specialist Course via Virtual Instructor-led (online) or in residence within 2 years of the established employee EOD.
  • Incumbent will be required to undergo initial and annual drug testing.
  • Incumbent will be required to attend and pass the Level II Antiterrorism Officer certification within 6 months of assignment and must maintain AT Level II certification IAW AR 525-13.
  • Emergency-Essential: Incumbent of an overseas position or who would be sent overseas during a crisis situation; position ensures success of combat operations or supports essential combat systems after a mobilization, evacuation, or military crisis.
