Duties
You will plan and lay out carpentry work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints, or building codes.
You will use wood or wood substitutes to construct structural items (e.g., building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircase.
You will determine the tools, machinery, and equipment needed to complete carpentry work projects.
You will repair wood items or wood substitute items (e.g., framework, trusses, rafters) to maintain functionality.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to posses and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- May be required to serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis. An on-call duty mechanic is required to carry a duty cell phone and a duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
- May be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
- A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the work of a Carpenter without more than normal supervision performing duties such as: 1) Constructing and repairing wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close fit and structural soundness; 2) Interpreting blueprints to determine the layout and work sequences of construction projects and 3) Operating power and hand tools and other woodworking equipment such as portable drills, clippers, joiners, shavers, sanders, routers, combustion type saws, drill presses and table saws.
