Serves as an Operations Supervisor (OS) in a Level 9 terminal facility. Provides first-line supervision to a team of air traffic control specialists that provide air traffic control services within delegated airspace.
Duties
The Operations Supervisor directs a staff of air traffic control specialists who are responsible for carrying out air traffic control assignments within a limited geographic area. Work typically impacts field facility and a few FAA offices outside of the facility. Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinate employees; sets work priorities and schedules; approves leave; gives advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Evaluates performance of employees and recommends performance ratings. Hears and resolves complaints from employees and refers group and grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to the Assistant Air Traffic manager or higher level supervisor. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality for the work directed.

Qualifications
Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:1) Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters positions for at least 1 year (52 weeks);OR2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility; (Note: an employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher-graded work;OR3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.NOTE: There are no restrictions on who can apply to MSS vacancies at those facilities with 3 or less MSS levels. In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart on MSS positions will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.Candidates will be evaluated on four "Managerial Selection Factors". Managerial Selection Factors: Candidates must provide separate narrative responses to address his/her experience in MWP Selection Factors 1 through 4. Applicants who fail to address the Leadership and Management Dimensions on-line will be disqualified.Evaluation Criteria: Eligible candidates will be evaluated based on EMP-1.14, Supplemental Guidance: 2152 Front Line Manager Selection for Terminal, En Route and Flight Service Facilities.
