This position is located in the Office of Policy, Legislation and International Affairs (OPLIA) which through strategic leadership and engagement with diverse partners, including domestic, tribal, and international decision-makers, utilizes cross-cutting perspective of FDA, expertise in policy, economic analysis, legislation, international and intergovernmental affairs, and understanding of FDA's stakeholders' needs, to develop and advance policies that protect and promote the public health.
Duties
Coordinating and carrying out assignments with other Center and Agency staff, including often requesting that information be gathered, and report or briefing is prepared.
Prepares briefing packages and background materials that include appropriate related research and summaries of major issues and reflect the input of other subject matter experts.
Recommends innovative strategies that take into account legal and policy risks and achieves favorable outcomes in light of the circumstances.
Performs special assignments involving difficult, complex, and sensitive policy/legal issues that often involve Agency-wide, inter-Agency and/or Department coordination.

Qualifications
The position of Senior Advisor falls under the 0301 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-15, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 08/15/2023.
Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
GS-15: You must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14, in the Federal service, which includes: identifying and assessing emerging, standing, complex, or precedent-setting issues impacting one or more regulated products, such as, human drugs and biological products, animal drugs, medical devices, tobacco products, human or animal food, or cosmetics; evaluating the content of new or modified legislation and regulations for potential impact upon public health; serving as an advisor in providing advice on strategic planning and program operations; collaborating and contributing to the formulation of policies, programs, plans and objectives.
