Serves as an Operations Manager (OM, MSS-3) in a Level 12 en route, responsible for planning and directing operations.

Duties

Serves as a Operations Manager (OM) in a Level 12 en route, responsible for planning and directing operations. The incumbent may be requested to provide direct support to the Air Traffic Manager. In the en route option, the OM provides first-line supervision to assigned Operation Supervisors (OS) and Supervisory Traffic Management Coordinators (STMC). The OM provides second-line supervision to ATCS' and TMCs. The OM is responsible for two or more operational areas, one of which may include the traffic management unit. The OM is responsible for operational services of the facility including traffic management initiatives. Provides training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates and facilitates team building throughout his/her area(s) of responsibility. Integrates support resources with operational needs to maintain effective ATC service, and may work other than administrative shifts to meet this requirement. Using measures of organizational performance, the OM continuously reviews work processes to assure that results meet the agency's mission and the customers' needs, add value to facility services, and are efficiently achieved. Serves as a member of the management team and provides advice on ways to improve organizational performance and meet strategic goals.

Requirements

• US Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

• Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
• FAA Form 3330-43, Rating of Air Traffic Experience required - See below under Required Documents
• A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required

Qualifications

Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:1)Must have held an FAA 2152-FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks);OR2)Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility;NOTE: An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher graded work;OR3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.NOTE: There are no restrictions on who can apply to MSS vacancies at those facilities with 3 or less MSS levels.4) In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart on MSS positions will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.Managerial Selection Factors: Candidates will be evaluated on four "Managerial Selection Factors".
