The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a training instructor and to provide training for airman and other personnel in both basic and advanced skills and the associated knowledge in the aircraft armament systems career field.

Duties

Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels. Studies course objective, technical orders, and other materials to prepare for assigned days of instruction. Tutors new instructors on required proficiency levels for areas assigned. Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials. Serves as the subject matter specialist in the development and/or revision of training materials such as study guides, workbooks, written tests, progress checks etc. Prepares daily lesson plans. Monitors and evaluations student progress and performance. Administers measurement devices and provides feedback to students; and maintains security. Observes student classroom activities and participation. Assists slower students during practical work by providing Special Individual Assistance (SIA). Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS). Initiates documentation, updates student training records, and schedules resources required for instructions. Maintains professional and technical expertise. Attends courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of training process and procedures. Remains abreast of changes to course materials in order to maintain block/course qualification.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712 +IOR BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: ** This is a CCAF Position** For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Demonstrates knowledge of maintenance management and man-hour reporting; safety (electrical, equipment, and personnel); publications, principles of electricity and electronics; circuit schematics and symbols; solid state electronics and electrical test equipment; common hand tools and soldering techniques; specializes systems on fighter, fighter bomber and bomber aircraft. Knowledge and performance of automatic weapons, inspection and maintenance, maintenance and loading of a gun system, bomb and missile preparation, loading and unloading, missile launching system components, related electrical and mechanical release systems functional/operational checks of the external and high density bombing systems FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses along with knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, objectives and computer applications. Skill in written and oral communication and accomplishing special training studies and projects. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions. Knowledge of maintenance management and man-hour reporting; safety (electrical, equipment, and personal); publications, principles of electricity and electronics; circuit schematics and symbols; solid state electronics and electrical test equipment; common hand tools and soldering techniques; specialized systems on fighter, fighter bomber and bomber aircraft,(i.e., A-10, F-15, F-16, B-52, B-1B, HH-53, AC-130 and other aircraft specialized systems). Knowledge and performance of automatic weapons, inspection and maintenance, maintenance and loading of a gun system, bomb and missile preparation, loading, missile launching system components, related electrical and mechanical release systems functional/operational checks of the external and high density bombing systems, use of special tools, test equipment and aerospace ground equipment, use of technical orders to teach wiring schematics/diagrams for the purpose of troubleshooting aircraft armament systems and bomb/missile loading and unloading procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
