You will serve as a Lead Engineering Technician in the Engineering Department of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

Serves as Technical Coordinator and lead subject matter expert for AEGIS and SHIP SELF-DEFENSE System equipment with responsibility for functional checkout, test and inspection of major systems. You will anticipate and solve technical difficulties, acting independently in attacking and resolving problems and making significant technical decisions. You will conduct independent engineering studies, investigations, research and analysis for the solution of unusual or unprecedented engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects. You will provide expert repair guidance to include thorough risk analysis and repair options and advise the maintenance team of methods of solving problems based on analyses. You will ensure that the organization?s strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team?s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services. You will monitor and report on the status and progress of work, reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor?s instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met. You will Serve as the team leader, developing and coordinating technical training both within and outside of the SWRMC Engineering Department. You will lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. You will responsible for the technical accuracy and adequacy of all tasks accomplished by senior and junior personnel on the numerous and varied types of complex equipment within their area of responsibility.

• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering advisory services or guidance through investigations, research and analysis to resolve unusual or unprecedented engineering problems in support of shipboard engineering projects. .
