The primary purpose of this position is to perform creative still photography and photographic processing work on location, in the studio, and in the laboratory.
Duties
Performs location photographic assignments.
Operates studio cameras.
Processes and develops film using both conventional and digital methods and techniques.
Manages and cares for photographic equipment, supplies, and materials.
Prepares and releases news and photos for internal and public audiences.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes operating standard and specialized camera and film processing equipment related to the position to be filled. Knowledge of the subject-matter being photographed may also be required for some positions. For positions that require a high degree of artistic or creative ability, samples of work or other suitable evidence of technical competence may be required. Unpaid experience that is pertinent should be credited based upon its relevance to the work of the particular position to be filled.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a variety of standard and specialized cameras including electronic still imaging and accessories sufficient to provide photographic support for public information activities.
2. Knowledge of basic photographic composition in positioning subjects, arranging backgrounds, and selecting camera angles and views to achieve aesthetically pleasing results.
3. Knowledge of developing, copying, and scanning and printing photographic processes using conventional and electronic/digital equipment and methods.
4. Knowledge of the working characteristics of photographic chemicals and solutions.
5. Knowledge of electronic imaging software and systems.
6. Ability to apply a variety of photographic and processing techniques.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
