Duties
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Responsible for planning and managing natural resources projects.
Collects field data contributing to the basic natural resources inventory of a park or monitoring program to assess status and trends of resource conditions
Seek out training opportunities and educational activities that will increase knowledge and understanding of the park's resources in the context of the natural environment.
Analyzes data and create reports especially using GIS (Graphic Interchange Format)
Writing reports for natural resources projects and monitoring results including recommendations.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/21/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. Basic Requirement for 0401:
Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: Transcripts MUST be submitted to document your educational accomplishments.
OR
combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e., 24 semester hours) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, chemistry, or a related discipline; plus, appropriate experience or additional education.
GS-07: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Using manuals, technical instruments and protocols to collect field data and identify species; analyzing data to present findings; drafting work plans to complete simple restoration actions. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one year of higher-level graduate education in a directly related field such as biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines, and which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work of this position. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.

Superior Academic Achievement: Successfully completed a bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the duties of this position AND meet one of the following Superior Academic Achievement provisions: (1) Class Standing: rank in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision , such as College of Liberal Arts or School of Business Administration, based on the completed courses; OR (2) Grad-Point Average: earn a grade-point average of (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field, or the required courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum. Note: grade-point averages will be rounded to the one decimal place, for example, 2.95 = 3.0, 2.94 = 2.9, and 3.45 = 3.5; OR (3) Membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society: elected membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies. Freshman scholastic honor societies cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.
GS-09: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Planning and managing natural resource projects; performing invasive plant removal, ecological restoration, scientific studies, and monitoring of plants and wildlife.; imports data into computer applications for data analysis, manipulation and presentation; effectively lead and problem-solve while working as part of team to achieve resource management goals through active restoration, research, community science, and education. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related. You must include transcripts.
