You will serve as a AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC in the TRANSPORTATION DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and overhaul complex major components and systems of combustion-powered automotive vehicles. You will troubleshoot defects and diagnosis malfunctions using inspection reports, diagnostic computer printouts, and visual inspections. You will maintain, repair, and/or overhaul complex major components and systems, such as engines, transmissions, axle assemblies, and differentials.. You will interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, and safety manuals to complete work. You will research and order replacement parts for vehicle and equipment.

Requirements

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Performing rebuilding and overhauling a variety of components, accessories, and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials, and compressors; 2) Using basic tools and equipment both standard and metric (e.g. torque wrenches, brake tools, analyzers, circuit testers)in addition to, (e.g. e test stands, oscilloscopes, four gas analyzers, dials and calipers and dynamometers; 3) Interpreting and applying manufacturers? repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics and engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals; 4) Using computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment to diagnose problems affecting engine performance; and 5) Troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard to locate defects or problems with electric vehicles, buses, engines, mechanical, hydraulic or electrical.
