This position is located in Aurora, Colorado within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task associated with the EMS goals and objectives. Tours of duty may vary depending on the internal department needs with weekdays, weekends, day and evening shift schedules.
Duties
Duties for the Housekeeping Supervisor include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the cleaning of all patient areas, corridor spaces throughout Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned.
Assuring efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision.
Plans daily and weekly assignments, scheduling periodic work for areas of responsibility, taking into consideration the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established priorities.
Trains staff and ensures that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients, patients' family members and personnel.
Schedules regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives.
Informs supervisor as to the condition of staff, unusual occurrences or matters that should be brought to the attention of their supervisor.
Keeps subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies; control the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit.
The position is responsible for the coordination of activities with other services, including rearranging work schedules during remodeling, painting and relocation of offices, clinics or patient wards and other duties which help coordinate moves.
Routinely inspects assigned areas to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments, sanitation levels are maintained, equipment properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives are accomplished in an expedient and timely manner.
Responsible for the quality inspection of assigned areas, recording discrepancies in cleanliness, needed maintenance repairs, broken or inadequately stored furnishings and equipment.
Work Schedule: Will be determined once selections are made. Includes: Days, Nights, Weekends and Rotating Holidays.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Heaving lifting and carrying, up to 45 lbs; Walking, standing, and repetitive bending for 8 hours; Ability to read including small print; Use of fingers with ability to grasp and hold items; Climbing, use of legs and arms; Reaching above shoulders, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Arduous physical exertion; Ability to follow basic directions; Don/Doff PPE; Wear a respirator.
