About the Position: This position is located a the Brooke Army Medical Center, Sterile Processing Department. The individual in the position will be responsible for providing tecnical oversight in processing and preparing a wide range of surgical and clinical instruments. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee maintains a consistent level of work. Amends or rejects work not meeting established standards, answers questions or matters not covered by standards and problems in meeting performance standards. Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others to supervisor. Informs supervisor of attendance and behavioral problems. Manages CPR crash cart and latex-free cart exchange system. Responsible for maintaining current documentation activity issued to, expiration dates, and inventory of items stocked.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing medical items and equipment to be utilized for surgical care; understanding basic principles of microbiology as they apply to medical supply operations: AND utilizing automated tracking/personal computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Care Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
