This position is located within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation (OST), Office of Mission Operations (OMO), Agent Operations Central Command (AOCC) in Amarillo, TX. A successful candidate in this position will lead a team of highly specialized protective force, which is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of classified and or hazardous nuclear material.

Duties

As a Supervisory Nuclear Materials Courier you will: Serves as a Squad Commander, which entails responsibility for the full range of supervisory functions for all Nuclear Materials Couriers and support staff. Performs the full range of supervisory duties, such as assigning and evaluating work performance, establishing training objectives, directing training activities of subordinates, recognizing, and disciplining staff, and resolving employee grievances. Provides both administrative and technical direction to a highly specialized protective force that is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of classified and/or hazardous materials. Directs the response of resources in an emergency.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the NV-03 pay band or GS-12 level. Qualifying specialized experience for this position includes: Leading all Courier personnel assigned to work under the employee's command, skill in security planning, and conducting or oversight of threat assessments of potential hostilities. Courier personnel assigned to the employee's command; skill in security planning; conducting or overseeing threat assessments of potential hostilities; and must have a current Special Response Force (SRF) certification. Examples of Specialized Experience include: Assigns personnel, equipment, and resources for operational purposes. Collaborates with supervisory leadership and the federal agent force for operational purposes. Evaluates subordinates concerning operations and training events. Ensures compliance with regulations, publications, policies, and standard operating procedures during operations and training. Previously functioned in a supervisory capacity for a limited time. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
