You will serve as a Pipefitter in the Pipe Shop, Structural Division, Repair Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will perform shop, ship, and submarine pipe work using building and ships plans, blue prints, and sketches to plan and layout various piping systems and equipment. You will plan and complete routing and placement of systems leading to equipment, determines and places equipment at the proper levels in the system. You will make repairs on ships and submarines of steam generated equipment. You will install and maintain steam supply and return lines, both high and low pressure steam traps, steam reducing valves, and control valves. You will repair piping systems onboard submarines.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Work requires the ability to lift, carry and set up installations and equipment that weigh 60 pounds and occasionally over 60 pounds.
• Work areas are often noisy, hot and crowded. May be exposed to noise, extreme temperatures, and crowded conditions aboard ships and submarines.
• This is a bargaining unit position.
• This position may require rotating shifts.
