This position is located within the Human Resources Management (HRM) organization of the USDA Forest Service in Albuquerque, NM. This position serves as a personnel security assistant and point of contact for the personnel security program at the Albuquerque Service Center. Duties

Duties listed are at the full performance GS-07 grade level. Collects, organizes, reviews, prepares, and resolves problems in the application, submission, and determination process for security investigations. Provides day-to-day background investigation counsel to managers and subjects of investigations related to the personnel security process. Runs and obtains data and reports as requested. Provides weekly reports to the Personnel Security Program Manager. Briefs new employees on information and personnel security application procedures. Ensures the accuracy of information entered into database systems.

Requirements

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Requirement: GS-05: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: Assisting with personnel security actions, including collecting, organizing, and reviewing security clearance documentation; and/or communicating with various levels of employees in order to provide and gather information; and/or entering information into automated systems and maintaining databases. OR A Bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school; OR A combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. GS-06: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: Responding to requests for information regarding office functions, status of reports, and other information as needed; and/or assisting with personnel security actions, including collecting, organizing, and reviewing security clearance documentation; and/or handling sensitive personnel information in human resources; and/or making decisions or recommendations based on information found in the application process for security clearance. OR One full year (18 semester / 27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (human resources, business admin, public admin, communications, education, information technology, human relations, or social sciences); OR A combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
