Duties

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Facilities and Asset Management will allow you to oversee and participate in the maintenance, repair, and construction of facilities. This position starts at a salary of $31.46 (WS-10, Step 1) to $36.73 (WS-10, Step 05) with promotion potential to $36.73(WS-10 Step 05). Salary: Salary will be adjusted to the hourly rate applicable at the duty station for which you are selected. Hourly Rate: The hourly rate listed reflects the Del Rio, TX wage schedule. Refer to the Federal Wage (FWS) website for additional wage schedule and hourly rate information. Typical work assignments include: Managing a team of maintenance personnel, which includes prioritizing and assigning work, overseeing timekeeping and attendance, approving leave, and participating in hiring and disciplinary actions as required; Working with Facilities and Infrastructure Manager, Facility Manager, Work Leaders, TI Program Manager, and/or Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs) to plan, review and prioritize incoming work orders; Coordinating maintenance and repair with external contractors; Coordinating with external customers on work schedules and identify when work will be completed; and Performing and supervising work in the following trades: electrical, HVAC, pipefitting, painting, plumbing, masonry, locksmith and carpentry.

Qualifications

Experience: To minimally qualify for the WS-10 grade level you must meet the Screen Out Element {Ability to Lead Or Supervise}. To meet the screen out element, you should haveexperience performing the following duties: Experience or training in at least two of the following building maintenance trades: Electrical, Pipefitting, Air Conditioning, Painting, Plumbing, and Carpentry; Ability and knowledge to complete a variety of tasks in these trades and be capable of reading and understanding blue prints, factory manuals, and operating manuals sufficient to accomplish the described tasks; and Ability to use all tools, equipment, and materials used by maintenance mechanics. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. In addition to the experience described above, you will also be evaluated on the basis of your overall level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/14/2023.
