Duties

You will develop performance standards and communicate performance communicate performance expectations. You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. You will identify developmental and training needs of employees. You will be responsible for protocol functions related to conferences, events, workshops, official breakfasts, luncheons, and dinners, receptions, changes of command, honors, promotion and award ceremonies, private dinners, and special meetings. You will coordinate protocol resources and outside support required to execute on-site and off-cite events. You will plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute itineraries, proposed guest lists, seating arrangements, receiving line composition, and procurement and placement of ceremonial accouterments in accordance with protocol procedures. You will plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute arrangements for escorts and interpreters, security, menu selection and preparation, and medical contingency plans in accordance with protocol procedures. You will research and provide background information on visiting dignitaries.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience applying knowledge of protocol techniques, courtesies, and honors to plan, arrange, and coordinate official visits from high level government and academic dignitaries; researching and analyzing protocol and cultural information to provide recommendations; and advising on the appropriate use of Organizational Representation Funds (ORF).
