About the Position: This position supports the mission of the Defense Health Agency, Financial Operations- J-8, Business Integration Division and is located in San Antonio, Texas. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Routinely extract, analyze, process and interpret key financial information from source systems to draw conclusions and/or summarize results. Utilize advanced analytical skills to ensure financial data system accuracy and/or to identify erroneous data or methodology in the translation of the disparate financial systems into a common operating financial picture across DHA. Formulate, implement, administer, review and evaluate DHA budget execution policy for financial management and accounting operations. Assist the Business Integration Division for improving financial statements, recording, and reporting. Maintains access to the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) and other Service specific accounting systems as required. Serve as the premier technical expert on accounting structure under the Standard Financial Information Structure (SFIS). Evaluate and oversee automated data processing (ADP) internal control requirements.

  • This is a Financial Management Certified position. Incumbent shall obtain a Financial Management Level 3 Certification within two (2) years of Entrance on Duty.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable background security check.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) analyzing the effectiveness of financial management programs, systems, and/or operations, 2) producing reports using automated financial systems such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), AND 3) analyzing financial data systems to verify accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
