You will serve as an Industrial Equipment Mechanic in the Service Shop (Code 990), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will overhaul dry dock equipment Including pumping equipment, valve up to 54", caissons and capstans and control gear. You will overhaul pumps and other equipment in sewage, saltwater stations, waste treatment plant and refuse burning plant. You will open up, clean and prepare, repair and adjust dry dock preventative maintenance inspections.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Experience determining the extent of repairs required, materials or parts needed, and time required to complete repairs on complex equipment and machinery such as engraving machines, exhaust units, caissons, and reducing valves. Experience reading and properly interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and other documents in determining critical dimensions and key reference points. Experience operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, radial drill presses and precision grinders to manufacture components and parts with working knowledge of steam, air and water distribution systems.
