This position is located at the Lake City Community Living Center (CLC), assigned to the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center. The purpose of the Respite Coordinator (PSA) is to coordinate respite care and to assist staff with routine administrative tasks. The position also serves as the contact person for patients and caregivers in absence of their assigned team member.
First area of consideration will be current permanent facility employees.
Duties
The Respite Coordinator (Program Support Assistant) is responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
Responsible for educating the patient/family members about the respite program criteria and answering any questions or concerns they may have. He/she will be the contact person for any inquiries regarding the Respite program.
Performs timekeeping functions for Geriatrics & Extended Care staff and backup timekeeping for Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) staff, ensuring the preparation of AA or Travel requests, and VA Time and Attendance System (VATAS) daily time and leave entry.
Maintains the competency assessment checklist/personal files of the professional and non professional supervisory and managerial employees who are under the direct supervision of the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS), Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC). Also assist the Records Liaison Officer.
Justifies and requests replacements for outdated equipment and gathering relevant information for office equipment and supplies.
Acts as an Information Manager (or ADPAC) for the Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) service. Initiates ePas requests to help get GEC personnel access to the computerized patient record system (CPRS) and other electronic resources.
Analyzes and solves problems in a positive, goal-oriented manner and to make clear, well-defined decisions and recommendations.
Assures all actions are in conformance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

You must qualify for the GS-05 grade level based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of (GS-04) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: managing timekeeping/certification, coordinating patient care and administrative services in a medical facility/clinic. Communicating and coordinating with multiple stakeholders such as, patient/family members, medical staff, outside referral agencies, and social work services. Utilizing software such as, Excel to collect, organize data, and maintain detailed records. Analyzing and solving problems following established standards/requirements. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have at least 4 years above high school. Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable for this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Physical Requirements: The work is partly sedentary, but a great deal of walking to all parts of the Medical Center is required since the incumbent will be working with a variety of clinical and administrative services.
