This position serves as the Supervisor of Textile Care Services located in the Environmental Management Service at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. The incumbent is responsible for management and supervision of all functional activities related to consolidated textile care operations at this medical center and for textile care sharing agreements with other agencies. The incumbent is considered the onsite resource expert for textile care services.
Duties
Major Duties include (but are not limited to):
Provides direct supervision to employees performing a variety of duties supporting textile care services.
Exercises full supervisory responsibilities and control over work operations and is accountable to the Housekeeping Officer for the quality and quantity of work accomplished.
Supervises the processing of approximately 240,000 pounds of soiled linen annually.
Supervises and trains employees using large commercial steam washers and extractors with computerized formulas, large commercial steam dryers, large folders, large steam ironers, water reclamation, linen distribution principles, inventory controls, textile care, and quality controls.
Supervises the cleaning, pressing, and mending of employee uniforms, while maintaining inventory control over employee uniforms.
Supervises the cleaning, pressing, mending, in-patient clothing for the Community Living Center, while maintaining inventory control of all items.
Supervises linen distribution and inventory control over all textile care products to meet annual targets.
Performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised.
Oversees a detailed linen management program that involves classifying and inspecting linen items, conducting annual linen inventories, documenting inventory results and preparing supporting inventory adjustment vouchers.
Manages and controls linen inventory and deliveries with Interagency Sharing Agreement customers by oral and written communications.
Inspects and inventories linen to comply with Sharing Agreements.
Maintains production reports and linen supply records, including monthly cost transfer reports, cost per pound reports, pounds processed reports, inventory control reports, production man-hour reports, and annual inventory reports.
Develops short- and long-term action plans to improve efficiency and manages the annual budget for textile care supplies, linen and uniform needs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Incumbent must be able to pull and push heavy linen carts. Must be able to pull wet laundry from washing machine, transport wet laundry to dryers, and lift bundles of finished linens. Must be able to walk on uneven, wet and slippery surfaces.
