This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Accept materials for shipment or storage at material drop points, processes selected stock from Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) receiving, warehouse pick stations, or assigned shops and other locations as assigned. Receive supplies and equipment by unloading conveyances, move items by handcart, and check items against documentation. Place clearly identified stock in appropriate temporary or permanent storage locations according to specific oral or written instructions, and established methods. Operate one or more of a variety of lift trucks used to move, stack and unstack, and load and unload material in and about warehouses, storage areas, loading docks, and on- and off-vehicles.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Pre-employment and annual physicals required.
• Must obtain or possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Obtain and maintain a forklift license.
• One-year probationary period may be required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. - receiving, unloading, and processing incoming shipments. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. PHYSICAL EFFORT - Position requires standing, stooping, and bending. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing on average up to 40 pounds, and, occasionally, may lift heavier items with the assistance of equipment or other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS - Work is performed both in heated and unheated buildings, and outside in all types of weather. Warehouse is adequately lit. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Safety equipment such as safety shoes are required while other equipment such as helmets and gloves are recommended.
