About the Position: Serve as the primary DASG Academy instructor and the secondary instructor for the DATMH Academy and Range Control for the Pueblo Chemical Depot, in Pueblo, Colorado.

Duties

Facilitate and instruct a comprehensive Security Guard Academy course. Serve as a train-the-trainer for the handling and disposal of toxic materials. Obtain and adapt instruction and training materials for assigned courses, to include computer based courses. Provide formal training through a variety of methods, such as lectures, demonstrations, written examinations and critiques. Initiate, review and update lesson plans and proficiency tests for courses of instructions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a background investigation.
  • You must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Position requires work with arms and ammunition to include chemical weapons.
  • Lifting requirement up to 30 lbs. for training apparatus, equipment, force-on-force training, etc.
  • Work is primarily in-doors in a training environment, but may involve working outdoors in inclement weather for specific training needs (weapons training, force-on-force, physical fitness, etc.)

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education in subject areas such as Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management and Curriculum and Instruction. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
