This position is located in the Pharmacy Department of the Claremore Indian Hospital, Claremore, OK, and responsible for the preparation, review, supply functions, dispensing and control of medication and other pharmaceutical products that are supplied by the pharmacy to service the ambulatory patients and to the inpatients, as well as nursing staff and physicians. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Outpatient Pharmacy.

Duties

Prepare and review medications and other pharmaceutical products Order and procure drugs; receives drug shipments, maintains pharmacy storeroom and hospital drug stocks; properly stores drugs. Operate and care for various pharmacy equipment; assist pharmacy staff in maintaining cleanliness of main pharmacy, pharmacy storage, and other drug storage areas Perform supply function, dispense and control of medications and other pharmaceutical products.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-5: One year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level. Experience includes: Reading complex instructions, counting or pouring correct amount of medication, distributing medication by verifying patient identity, consults with patients and includes proper dose and direction of medication being dispensed, knowledge about pharmaceuticals including generic names. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses. OR Successful completion of pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience. Specialized Experience: Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of: Pharmaceutical nomenclature Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
