You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) for FLT AREA CONTROL SURVEILLANCE FAC.

Duties

You will oversee Information Assurance (IA) and cyber security for a command organization consisting of over 350 personnel and three subordinate detachments. You will ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks, and data through planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs. You will prepare or oversee the preparation of Information Assurance (IA) certification and accreditation documentation and participate in an Information System risk assessment during the certification and accreditation process. You will identify IT security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades. You will interact collaboratively with others and to be able to negotiate and resolve complex issues associated with DOD Information Assurance Accreditation Process. You will develop and implement information security standards and procedures through the DOD certification and accreditation process. You will interpret patterns of non-compliance to determine their impact on levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness of the enclave's IA program, analyze identified security strategies and select the best approach or practice for the enclave. You will evaluate proposals to determine if proposed security solutions effectively address command requirements, as detailed in solicitation documents.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires Information Assurance Certification IAW DOD 8570.01; and requires that the incumbent maintain current Certified Information Systems Security Professional Certification (CISSP Certification).
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 72 level III within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: reviewing certification and accreditation documentation to ensure compliance with accreditation process; Identify IT security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: managing or monitoring information systems or network security in support of an organization's mission; utilizing knowledge related to information assurance and IT security to resolve inquires. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing guidance or recommendations on corrective actions to identify procedural or systems deficiencies; interact collaboratively with others and to be able to negotiate and resolve complex issues associated with Information Assurance Accreditation Process. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations. In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing and implementing Information Technology cyber security procedures, regulations and policies for the administration or operation of system networks to ensure accreditation and compliance in accordance with established guidelines. You are required to possess Information Assurance Certification IAW DOD 8570.01 and must provide documentation supporting the information assurance certification status upon request and must maintain valid certification status in accordance with current DOD Directive. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
