Duties

Serves as a Special Operations Combat Medic Clinical Preceptor. Performs doctrinal oversight and instruction of Special Forces medicine for US military personnel. Assists in course material development. Counsels and mentors students. Serves as the primary hospital/emergency medical services (EMS) preceptor in the designated geographical location.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position requires extended periods of walking and standing while administrating rotations.
• Other physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs, carrying a patient laden litter for short distances, repetitive bending over, climbing steps and working from the kneeling or prone positions.
• A pre-employment physical is required .
• The work environment will consist of, but not be limited to the classroom, laboratory, and the outdoors. Required to work outdoors regardless of the weather conditions.
• Required to serve intermittently on an extended hour work week of up to 60 hours, as such, this position requires mandatory compensatory hours and/or overtime.
• May be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Position requires knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, veterinary subjects, laboratory subjects, general medicine subjects, nursing, surgery, and anesthesia.
• May travel TDY up to 15% of the time.
• Former instructor or graduate of the Special Forces Medical Sergeants (SFMS) course or the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) course or equivalent course of instruction.
• Continued from above: that equipped the employee with the required medical training to perform the procedures listed in the duties.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• One year probationary period may be required.

OR Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled such as knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, veterinary subjects, laboratory subjects, general medicine subjects, nursing, surgery, and anesthesia. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Possess the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
